Packaging supplier, Wipak UK, is set to launch a UK-first recyclable paper wrap for butter, which can reduce carbon footprint by 68% compared to standard market packages.
Unlike existing butter wraps in the market which are made of grease-resistant materials, usually made up of aluminum and polyethylene, and not easily recyclable, our paper wrap is FSC certified and is completely "recyclable" after cleaning. Moreover, Wipak UK’s recyclable butter wrap has successfully passed post-packaging shelf-life trials in recycling tests, scoring an A+ rating which is the highest possible score for paper recycling and the product is also compliant with UK guidelines. Aluminum-free and covered in ultra-thin natural coatings, the decorative butter wrap has excellent properties to prevent the entry of oxygen and water vapor compared to standard papers. This packaging is one of several exciting new product development projects developed using a composite laminating machine and can be applied to ordinary butter packing machines. Solutions like these, in addition to the environmental benefits, help to keep the brands relevant in the competitive market.
