Based on research that was conducted on the beneficial effect of dairy products that are fiber-enriched, on human health, Estonian dairy group Nordic Milk has launched a new product.
Studies during this research showed that the amount of beneficial bacteria in the gut of the people tested who consumed these products, increased and their digestive function normalized. A fiber-rich diet also helps prevent many diseases caused by lifestyle.
Each person in Estonia should consume 25-35 gr of fiber per day, according to the recommended amount in the diet, but in fact, only half of this amount is consumed.
The scientist at the Center of Food and Fermentation Technologies (TFTAK) and the dairy industry; this study was performed by analyzing blood samples of individuals and the microbial part of the gut.
There are as many microbes in the human body as there are cells, and the microbiome (the genomes of the microorganisms living on and in a human body) is the most affected by the diet.
Kaarel Adamberg researcher at the TFTAK said “The tests revealed that Hi!Fiber yogurt, which is enriched with four different fibers, not only keeps the normal levels of LDL and blood cholesterol but also supports the growth of beneficial bifidobacteria in the gut, helping normalized digestion.”
Liina Kimmel product innovation manager at Nordic Milk said “Although dairy products are rich in the essential nutrients and contain almost all nutritious for the normal development of the human body, they lack fiber because of their animal origin.”
“Dairy fat is one of the main sources of energy and has a variety of biochemical compounds. The proteins in milk are an essential source of amino acids because they cannot be produced by the human body. Milk is also an important source for fiber enrichment of a functional, healthy, and beneficial food product.”
